Spiritual Gift of Faith

We tend to look at faith as something which causes us to believe in something even though there is no proof. In a great sense, faith in Christ is the same, but we receive proof of God once we begin to faithfully follow Christ. The spiritual gift of faith tends to follow the more temporal view of faith.

The spiritual gift of faith is in the person who is willing to sell all their possessions and move to Uganda to open an orphanage. It is the person that is so convinced in God’s provision that there is no ‘proof’ on earth which can cause them to question what God has called them to.

My wife and I both score very high in this category on the spiritual gifts test. Several years ago I quit a full time, good paying job during an economic recession so that I could be a full time Bible student. My wife didn’t have a job either. We were going to try to make our living on the internet in a time when internet advertising revenues were at an all time low. But, we were so convinced that this was the next step in God’s plan that we stepped out in faith, trusting in God to provide for all of our needs. And He was faithful and is faithful.

I think that this gift is hard to identify in today’s youth. It requires freedom which most don’t have. Still the spiritual gifts test may show the gift based on the desires that the youth has. If you believe you may have this gift, the challenge is to prayerfully be considering your future: job, college, relationships, etc. Find out where God is calling you and step out in faith. The person who truly desires to do all that Christ calls him to will never be disappointed.
