Jesus, a Choice

Many people are confused about the love of God. I’ve heard numerous times, “If God loves everyone, why doesn’t he save everyone?” The answer is a philosophical one, stemming from scriptural knowledge of God’s plan.
First and foremost, we have been created to glorify God. “In him we were also chosen…in order that we…might be for the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:11, 12). God decided before creation that we, being the chosen people would glorify Him.

So the question is really does saving everyone glorify God?

In order for everyone to glorify God, we would all have to choose Him. If we all choose Him, then that means that he has manifested himself in our lives in a way that we would all have perfect knowledge of Him so that none would falter. So what is choice? To choose is to prefer or decide to do something. If the choice is between God and sin, would anyone prefer sin with perfect understanding of God?

Similarly, would anyone choose God if they had no understanding of Him? It is a balance that is required. All men have a sinful nature and all men have an innate knowledge of God proven by the general sense of morality shared by the majority of the world cultures. We have a battle between good and evil so that God will be glorified.  As a product, all will not be saved as many will choose evil over good.

What God really wants is for us to choose Him based on faith. Once you take a step of faith he will make himself clear through the power of the Holy Spirit and at that time the choice to choose Jesus becomes confirmed. “Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 1:13).
