That's a really good question. To my understanding, the International Methodist churches, like the US Methodist church, broke off from the main body in England by the counsel of John Wesley so that they could form their own local organizations. International organizations are a challenge because decisions are made for the entire body based on an individual culture. If the denomination is localized, they can make decisions within their cultural context. Hope that helps! God bless, -Anthony

Several places indicate, however, that we're still in the seventh day, which means at least the seventh day lasts far longer than 24 hours.

The Bible says that He was in the grave for three days and three nights.

Therefore, He couldn't die on Fri afternoon and be raised Sunday morning.

The New Testament mentions that there was a Sabbath (High Day) on the day after He died.

There was also a day when the women went and bought spices and prepared them (not possible on a Sabbath).

There was also a Sabbath (not called a High Sabbath) on the day after they prepared the spices.

And he was raised on the day after the Sabbath.

So, having been crucified on Wednesday the disciples (the women) would have had to wait thru the Thursday High Sabbath until Friday to purchase and prepare spices.

They would've rested on the Saturday Sabbath (an ordinary Sabbath) and gone to the tomb early Sunday to find that He had risen.

Yes, He is very much all knowing. There are many, many verses that support this, but I would encourage you to dwell on this one:

Isaiah 40:13
Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor?

Hey Jason. Thanks for your thoughts. I do agree to an extent. I think that in most cases, that 'good work' will be made incomplete. I do not believe anyone can lost their salvation even willingly. I do agree with Calvinists, however, in that many who profess the name of Jesus and then walk away, may not have been saved to begin with. In either case, they don't lose their salvation, it is more a judgment on the heart.

Good post, I have been trying to understand the Calvinist and Arminian views better after taking a theology class at my church. To be honest, the class made things worse because it presented the two views only without the middle ground like you spoke of in your post. You might check out the Calvary Chapel beliefs because they are similar to your post. That's where I'm thinking of going now that I found out my church is so staunch Calvinist.

I do think that once someone is truly saved they cannot lose their salvation:
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 (New American Standard Bible)
I'm not sure if you agree because you said it both ways in your post, but I would like to know more of your thoughts on the subject.
