God Particle or God? – The Search for the Higgs Boson
What will scientists find when they send two particle beams colliding together using the Hadron Collider?

Their hope is to find the God particle, also called the Higgs boson. The Higgs boson is a theorized particle from 1964 which is supposed to be reminiscent of the particle which existed causing the theorized Big Bang. The Hadron Collider, located at CERN on the Fraco-Swiss border, will accelerate two particles of matter in opposing direction over a tunnel stretching about seventeen miles until they collide together at nearly the speed of light. The impact will result in the release of different types of particles, one of which they hope to be the God Particle. Most believe it is highly unlikely that the particle they are looking for will be found, however this experiment has never been done so it is likely that they will be able to observe different types of particles.

What does the Bible have to say about this? God spoke the universe into existence in six days and rested on the seventh. The Bible is very clear on this. Where science has come up with many theories that relate very closely to the Judeo/Christian understanding of creation, the Big Bang simply does not work. The Big Bang is a ‘clockmaker’ theory. Set it up and let it go. Study of the word of God shows a very different experience where the creator plays a very active role in the lives of the creation.

Another interesting element is the persistence of particle physicists to locate the God Particle, even in an age where the Big Bang is rejected not just by creationist circles, but also by science. Most believe in an eternal universe or at least an eternal energy, so the idea that there is a beginning and an end to the universe is absurd to most. To clarify for creationists, the universe is not eternal, but the creator is. Many have come up with new theories, adaptations of the Big Bang theory, which patch some of the holes, but these are not scientific theory, but grasping at straws so they do not have to start over at square one. The Hadron Collider is not likely to produce the God Particle, but it is common knowledge that other results may still prove useful for further research.
