Angelic Measurments are Human Measurements

And he measured its wall, seventy-two yards, according to human measurements, which are also angelic measurements. (Revelation 21.17).

I think this is an awesome passage. This passage is in the context of the new Jerusalem. The really cool thing about this passage is not so much the massive size of the walls of the new Jerusalem, but that angelic measurements are also human measurements. This means that space and possibly even time will be measurable in the new Jerusalem and on the new earth.

I think this passage is notable, because no matter how hard we try to deny it, in our humanness, we love the world we live in. I think that is OK. God, when he created all things said that it was good, so why wouldn’t we want to live in eternity under that same type of creation. I think that the new earth will be very much like the original creation, before it was cursed. I look forward to that.

I think there is some serious application in this passage when it comes to understanding and sharing our faith. Many people have a hard time thinking in a metaphysical or spiritual sense and that becomes a stumbling block or keeps them from true faith. I really believe that God designed the new earth in this way so that we will have a reference point in understanding it and will therefore desire it; that desire resulting in a desire to follow Jesus.
